Nautical Beach Hut fabric doorstop sewing pattern (instant download).
Make your own nautical beach hut fabric doorstop using these easy to follow instructions.
Please note that you will not receive the actual doorstop, but you will receive instructions on how to make your own doorstop. One file has the instructions and the other the templates.
Design: You can make this beach hut doorstop as complex or simple as you choose, based upon your level ability and imagination. I’ve described fully here how to make your doorstop like the more complicated one pictured. However you could choose to make a more basic one. You can appliqué as little or as much as you want on your doorstop, so please feel free to be creative and design it as you choose using the templates provided.
The finished doorstop will have an opening at the bottom, where you can fill it with wadding and rice/gravel. Therefore it can also be emptied, washed and refilled.
Finished size: 27 ½ cm high (plus the handle) by 18 cm x 10 cm.
Printing out the templates: print out your templates with 100% scaling (and remember not to use double sided printing). If you can print onto card rather than paper, then do so, as they will be easier to draw around. Please note that the template for the front/back is very nearly the same width and height as a sheet of A4, so you may find when you print it that the top and left and right corners are not quite printed out. If this happens, then use a ruler to complete the straight lines to finish your template.
You will need the following:
• Roof fabric: half a fat quarter
• Fabric for the sides and bottom of your doorstop: a fat quarter
• Small scraps of fabric for the decoration of your beach hut
• A few buttons as required
• Iron on heavy interfacing: 1 fat quarter
• 6 oz wadding
• 1 kg Rice/washed gravel
• Velcro: 1½ cm wide by 10 cm
• Sewing machine, threads, fabric scissors, pins, vanishing ink pen or pencil.
• Useful but not essential: cutting mat/Rotary Cutter, fabric adhesive
