How we started
Crafty girl Maria is owned by myself, Maria Hancock.
I have been a keen crafter and sewist since I can remember. From a very young age I was taught by my mum to bake, craft and sew and have always made my own curtains and blinds. I later began making my own clothes and got completely obsessed with fabrics and sewing.
I started out small on Etsy, just selling a few hand made items and a range of sewing patterns. I then expanded my business, launching my own website.
My aim is to bring you local store service, a good range of quality fabrics, crafts and haberdashery goods at affordable prices.
GREAT SERVICE We want you to be delighted with our service. If we've made a mistake we do our utmost to put it right to your full satisfaction. We allow returns if you change your mind or it's just not the right thing, so you have piece of mind in buying at a distance.
CUSTOMER FOCUSED I understand how confusing it can be to know which products you need, so I'm happy to help you. Also if you can't find what you are looking for, I'm happy to look into whether I can get it for you from one of my many stockists.
We love organic
GOTS certificated fabrics
GOTS is the worldwide leading textile processing standard for organic fibres, including ecological and social criteria, backed up by independent certification of the entire textile supply chain.
It not only means that you can be confident the fibres are organic and free of harmful chemicals, but also that their production has passed the requirements concerning working and social conditions that are equivalent to those of leading social sustainability standards.
We continue to seek out as many
GOTS fabrics from our suppliers.
We love our planet and do what we can for the environment.
Currently, all the packaging is recycled and/or recyclable. However, we recognise that there is far too much plastic in our environment and we don't want to add to it. Therefore, we no longer buy any plastic bags: our recycled and recyclable plastic bags are being phased out and replaced by a more environmentally friendly product.
These new white bags are from a sustainable source (sugarcane), carbon and are fully recyclable. Further when they degrade, they are non-toxic.
Please note that we do reuse as much packaging as we can, so you might receive your goodies in reused packaging, which may include plastic. Unfortunately items received from our wholesalers may be packaged in plastic and we would rather reuse this packaging then place it straight in the recycling or bin.
