Keep your milk bottles cool in this practical and simple insulated box. Includes a handle to help you bring the milk in.
I love getting my milk delivered to my door every other day. It's more environmentally friendly as we are buying less plastic and the milk bottles are returned for reuse. However, I was getting frustrated at my milk being too warm in the summer and therefore going off really quickly. Although when I was a young child the milkman used to deliver very early in the morning, so it was lovely and fresh when you woke; these days milk deliveries tend to be done later night. Often our milkman (or is it milk person) delivers around midnight, meaning on warm summer nights it is not as fresh and cool as I would like.
Therefore I designed a simple insulated milk bottle carrier that can be left on your doorstep ready for your milkman to fill. If it's really warm, there is also space to place a freezer pack inside. It is wipe clean, with a hook and loop easy close lid and carry handle.
Your finished milk bottle carrier will measure 20 cm high by 18 cm wide and 17 cm deep (excluding the handle).
You will be buying the printed instructions and materials to make this carrier and will not be receiving the finished carrier itself. You will then receive all of the materials you need and a physical copy of the pattern, saving you money overall on buying them all separate (the total price of the individual components would be nearly £28).
You can either choose a kit with all the materials you need, including the featured fried egg fabric and a printed instruction sheet (limited quantity available) or a kit with all of the raw materials, excluding the outer fabric and a printed instruction sheet.
Your kit will include the following:
- (Optional) Fried egg cotton fabric - half a metre
- 2 m Vlieseline Lamifix.
- Bosal thermal backed fleece - half a metre (62 inch wide).
- Thermolam compressed fleece - half a metre (90 cm wide).
- Heavy weight interfacing (Vlieseline H250) - 1/4 of a metre.
- 20 cm hook and loop tape.
You will also need the following:
- Matching threads
- Fabric pen
- Fabric clips (if you don’t have any, just make sure you place your pins within the seam allowance).
- Sewing machine
- Optional: cutting mat and rotary cutter
- Walking foot (ideally).
